Great Wave Earring

Hokusai's woodblock print the great wave came from a long Japanese tradition of stylizing natural phenomenon. From the 12th century onwards the wave was used as crest motif with the implication that the movement of the waves with their constant ebb and flow embodied the essence of great strategy.
